In this video you will learn why automating effects in FL Studio is a powerful tool and how you can do it in your beats. Knowing how to use automation is an extremely important part of mixing and composing beats. This is a great demonstration of how you can use automation to make your effects stand out in your beats.
So what is automation?
Automation is used to control an effect. It is a great way to activate and turn on an effect for a certain period of time and then turn the effect off. It can also be used to gradually increase or decrease the intensity of an effect in FL Studio.
Automation is not only used for effects. It can be used for volume and many other controls within in FL Studio.
Automation Clips in FL Studio
Automation clips are displayed in the playlist. The automation clips are used to control the automation of the specific effect you are trying to automate. To use an automation clip in FL Studio you must first find a control in FL Studio that you want to automate such as a knob. A volume knob is a great example of a control that you can automate within FL Studio. When you right-click on a control within FL Studio you can then choose to “create automation clip.”
I primarily use automation as a way to control volume and effects such as Gross Beat. Using automation on Gross Beat is one thing that I use a lot. It works the same way that it is shown in the tutorial above. You allow gross beat to be activated at a desired instance on your beat and then you turn it off with automation.
